Welcome to the USS Beowulf

"Welcome to the USS Beowulf - NCC-4329

For fifty winters I've ruled this realm and never a lord of a neighboring land dared strike with terror or seek with sword...In my life I abode by the lot assigned, kept well what was mine, courted no quarrels, swore no false oaths. I can take joy in all these things.
-Beowulf, author unknown

Come on in and join us today in continuing the dream begun in 1966. Return back to the foundation upon which Star Trek was begun. The USS Beowulf is a PBBB sim set in the TOS Movie era in 2284. The ship is to be stationed in No Man's Land (The Golden Triangle), the sector of space where the Federation meets with the Klingon and Romulan Empires. The Beowulf is the eyes for the Federation

Welcome to our our main site. We have ship recognition manuals for ships of the era, a timeline and more. SEVEN TIMES NOMINATED AS SIM OF THE MONTH FOR HORIZON FLEET.

Take a look at our missions on our posting forum:

You may be hesistant to join a TOS movie era ship because you feel that the differences in technology and terminology are to much to overcome. Its not so different as you might think. Good stories are good stories no matter when they are set. Here are some reasons why its even better in this timeframe:

10. Romulans won't cross the Neutral Zone just to say "We're back."

9. No wimpy counselors around so we can feel alright about ourselves.

8. First person that tries to put on a classical music concert gets a court martial.

7. No Captain Proton.

6. Our androids listen only to Harry Mudd.

5. Vulcans actually use logic, not arrogance.

4. It takes two weeks to get a message from Starfleet Command, so we'll make our own decisions anyway.

3. We don't need holodeck fantasies. We make the real thing.

2. Are we really supposed to believe that after 300 years there is no cure for baldness?

1. Comm badges, we don't need no stinkin' comm badges.

Welcome to the Wulf

XO and New Crew

Most of you are probably wondering about the XO situation right now. Kate has been ill of late and not able to handle the responsibilities. And with her sim husband running into scheduling problems to continue with the sim, the character of Ayita Tala-Zeus will be retired. I had spoken to her this weekend and we agreed that a new start for her will be best. She will be creating a new character which we should be seeing shortly that will take over as the new XO.

We have a fine crew here and I think we can all step our game up. I will be working on adding some new blood to get in here. COB Koenig has been a great addition to the sim. We are also adding another former XO in the role of Chief Intelligence Officer, so everyone welcome Lt. James Hoffman back.

After completion of the current mission we will be moving on to set up the situation which leads the Beowulf to its tie-in to the Wrath of Khan to Voyage Home movies. I am really stoked. I may just post every day when that is going on. The Beowulf has a bright future ahead of it.

First of I would like to thank everyone who has returned to the sim and those who are new. I am very proud of what we have accomplished this month. This was a great month on the sim. There is going to be a lot of hardware given out. I am very proud of what everyone has done.

Let's look at the promotions first. Nita has been made a Lt. Commander with her character Nealie McGauran. This is long overdue. Also Paul was promoted to full Lt. on his return to the sim with Vasily Zaytzev.

Now for some awards. Another overdue recognition goes to our XO Commander Ayita Tala-Zeus. She has been awarded the Non-Player Character Development Award for her character Ensign Elizabeth Revan (Tala/Garcia). This character is a special treat that has been shared with many aboard during JPs. Lt. Commander McGauran has been awarded the Relationship Award for her recent posting with the captain. Captain's Choice Award goes to Lt. Zaytzev, which looks to be just the first of many awards he will earn. Plus we welcome to the ship Lieutenant JG Arshes Maral with the Newcomer's Award.

The Beowulf reunion is not finished yet. Lt. Cmdr. A'ron Zeus has returned to the sim as the Chief Navigation Officer and 2nd Officer. A'ron will be fulfilling a variety of roles ahead, amongst them he has described the character will be 'a diplomat with a phaser.'

Character of the Year and Promotions

Fleet yearly awards are coming around again. This year I nominated one of our crew I feel is highly deserving of the award, our new helmsman Amanda Blackfur. Amanda has also been recently promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer 2nd Class. I did offer to make her a full officer, but she wanted to stay warrant.

Another promotion in the books is long overdue for our XO Ayita Tala-Zeus. You may not have heard that she is going to be keeping this character in the simm if real life ever gives her time.

I want to thank everyone for sticking with the sim. I know that it has been hard with all the defections of late. I have been working bring people onto the Wulf but without success. I want to let you know I am still dedicated to this sim. Evidence of that can be found in the fact I have to clean spammers off our forums at least twice a day. I will make another push to get more members aboard. If any of you have any suggestions as to improvements which can be made to the forums or main site I am all ears. I would also welcome suggestions to gaining more members.

Next year we will have our Wrath of Khan/Search for Spock tie-in. It will be big, taking a better part of the year involving multiple ships. You may be asked to roleplay NPCs from these other ships. I'm hoping that HF can attract another sim from our era that we can work with on these missions.
